In this series, Michelle is intuitively exploring the tensions between materials as a catalyst to unpick the relationship between Land, Sea and Sky. Combining techniques through slow and fast mark making from meditative to frenetic; she is enjoying an irreverent approach to her painting using precious gold and copper leaf, found objects, neon, children’s glitter paint and traditional oils.Through her painting Michelle is aiming to express some of the sensory experience of being in the landscape. She frequently takes inspiration from the wild coastline from her native Pembrokeshire. The work is often an emotional response to this;  working in an intuitive and gestural way with texture an integral element.
